Kindergarteners and their Dads Celebrate 26 years of Kite Flying (almost)
One of our favorite traditions at Hendricks Day School is Kite Day. Kindergarten students invite their dad to school for a morning of kite flying followed by a picnic lunch. For only the second time in 26 years the kites did not fly because of the weather. It was a miserable day outside, but inside the kindergarten classrooms the kids were so excited to see their dads (or uncles, grandparents, etc.) at school. The kids had show and tell with their kites and then pizza and cookies were served. After lunch there was a rousing game of BINGO.
A homework assignment was given out for the weekend:
Go Fly a Kite!

7th Graders at High Tea
On Monday, March 8th, Mrs. McKay's 7th grade geography class celebrated their study of the United Kingdom by having a High Tea Party. The students attended the Tea Party in character as someone who was born in the United Kingdom (from the past or present). While Mrs. McKay supplied the tea, the students brought many of the foods that might be enjoyed at an English High Tea such as grapes, chocolate dipped strawberries, Yorkshire pudding, shortbread cookies, scones, finger sandwiches, ham, lemon bars, etc. The guests at the High Tea were Alfred Hitchcock, Mary, Queen of Scots, JK Rowling, Emma Watson, Graham Young (the teacup poisoner), Paul McCartney, Horatio Nelson, Robert Blake, George Roger Waters, Margaret Thatcher and Shawn Wright Phillips. As the students sipped their tea and munched on the goodies, they shared information about themselves and asked questions of each other. It was interesting and fun for all! Cheerio for now!
