Communicating With Clarity

"The difference between the right word and the almost right word is the difference between lightning and lightning bug."
                                                                                            Mark Twain

Communication begins with thinking, and one's thinking must be clear and precise if the communication is to be accurate.  Ideas must be translated to words or actions that will be understood by the receiver.

If the information being sent is not the same as the information being received, then effective communication does not occur.  Intelligent communicators learn to choose words and examples carefully and thoughtfully to be sure that they are being precise.  They avoid assumptions, and they take care to express themselves in terms easily understood by their audience.

The students at Hendricks Day School are held to a high standard regarding their communications.  Our emphasis on English grammar and interpreting literature enables them to learn valuable skills that will improve their ability to communicate.
