Applying Past Knowledge

"There is only one thing more painful than learning from experience and that is not learning from experience."

Archibald McLeish

Learning from experience, one's own and others, is life's best teacher.  Applying that learning to new situations is an intelligent behavior.

An invaluable tool in solving problems is the ability to call on prior solutions used in similar situations.  Students can be taught to apply their past knowledge through comparison and analogy.

We emphasize at Hendricks Day School that mistakes are building blocks for future success.  The only failure is to stop trying.  Learn from it and move on.
