Education's purpose is to replace an empty mind with an open one." Malcolm Forbes |
Thinking flexibly might be another way to think "out of the box." It is strategy that enables people to be open to new ideas and methods.
Students who learn to think flexibly are well prepared to meet many of the challenges they will face as they progress through school and into their careers. They will welcome and appreciate different perspectives, and they will not allow themselves to be limited by arbitrary boundaries.
Flexible thinking is encouraged across our curriculum at Hendricks Day School. Problem solving and decision-making skills are enhanced if students are urged to seek "another way" or to take "a different direction" to arrive at a solution. Flexible thinkers will be comfortable in difficult situations because they will know that they have many options available.
