"I think and think for months and years. Ninety-nine times the conclusion is false. The hundredth time I am right."

Persistence means not giving up, staying with it, sticking to it, not giving in, refusing to quit. Successful people regard failure as an opportunity to find another way to accomplish something.
To teach children persistence is to teach them to look for alternatives, to evaluate, to predict, to analyze, to compare, and to make a decision based on their observations and experience.
The habit of persisting can be learned by anyone through practicing behaviors that require persistence. At Hendricks Day School, students are encouraged to be persistent in all their academic and extracurricular pursuits. We expect the best from our students, and we recognize that one way to get them to do their best is to teach them to be persistent. The benefits of persisting can be shared with everyone. |
