Technology

At Hendricks Day School, it is our belief that students can only learn to harness the power of technology by having exposure to technology from the very beginning of their education.  All students from Pre-Kindergarten 3 year olds through the 8th grade are exposed to technology in a number of ways.

Every classroom at Hendricks has a high speed connection to the Internet and a projector.  Teachers integrate technology into the curriculum by using the Internet and software programs to supplement and enrich the lessons being taught.  Additionally, each classroom is equipped with several student computers which are used to enhance the classroom experience.

A question may arise from a student and the teacher can instantly connect to the Internet or alternatively have the student research the question while class continues and return with the information to share with the class.  Research does not have to be scheduled but can and does happen at will.  At Hendricks we call this a "teachable moment".

When students go to the Technology Lab for instruction, they don't share computers.  A station is provided for each student to use on their own. The Technology Lab is equipped with 24 student work stations each with 17" monitors.  In addition, the lab has 3 color digital (laser) printers, scanners, a teacher workstation, a projection system with 8 foot projection screen, VCR, DVD, surround sound and other technology equipment.
